    Welcome to Maqraa

    April 28, 2026 · 5 min read · Maqraa team
A live Maqraa session showing Surah Al-Fatiha in the Mushaf, with a per-word correction menu offering error, repeat, note and well-done, alongside the whiteboard tools and the session timer.

After months of development, we are launching Maqraa today: an open-source platform for teaching the Quran, focused on live Tajweed halaqah sessions.

    Why a new platform?

Today's tools were not built for the Quran. Zoom does not know the ayahs, WhatsApp loses the history, and Excel spreadsheets exhaust the teacher. We spend more time managing tools than teaching Tajweed.

    What does Maqraa offer?

    • A live interactive Mushaf: the Madinah Mushaf in the King Fahd Complex script, synced between teacher and students
    • One-tap correction: lahn jali and lahn khafi, across 14 classical categories
    • Lasting progress tracking: every recitation saved, every step visible

    Open. Free. Forever.

Under the AGPL-3.0 license. Every line of code is on GitHub. You can use app.maqraa.org directly, or host the platform on your own server.

    What comes next

We are expanding the Quran Foundation integration, building a dedicated mobile app, and preparing advanced reports for institutes. The roadmap is public on GitHub.

We welcome every teacher, student, or developer who wants to contribute to serving the Book of Allah.
