Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 28, 2026
1. What we collect
We collect only the information needed to run the platform: account name, email, password (encrypted), and if you choose to link your account to Quran.com, we receive an OAuth access token (we never store your Quran.com password).
For teachers: details of the circles you create, sessions, recorded recitations, Tajweed corrections, and attendance notes.
For students: history of your recitations, corrections you've received, sessions you attended, your progress in memorization and recitation.
2. What we don't do
- We never sell your data — not to marketers, ad networks, or any third party.
- We don't use your recitations to train AI models — recitations belong to you and your teacher, and don't leave the platform.
- We don't track you outside the platform — no tracking cookies, no third-party analytics without your consent.
- We don't share your data with government entities except on explicit court order.
3. Self-hosting
If you self-host Maqraa on your own server, this policy doesn't apply to you — you're the data controller. This policy concerns app.maqraa.org users only.
4. Your rights
- Access your data — download all your data from account settings.
- Account deletion — deleting the account permanently removes all data within 30 days.
- Correct your data — edit your information anytime from settings.
- Withdraw consent — unlink Quran.com or delete your account entirely.
5. Cookies and tracking
We use only necessary session cookies for login. We use Umami for analytics (open source, privacy-respecting, no individual tracking). We don't use Google Analytics or ad tools.
6. Quran Foundation integration
When linking your account to Quran.com, the minimum necessary data is shared (reading activity to sync your streak). See the Quran Foundation privacy policy for details.
7. Changes to this policy
We update this policy as needed. Material changes are announced on the home page. The last-updated date is at the top of this page.
